Pressure Washer

Among our daily tasks of dealing with jobs and taking care of our family, house chores are something that we can’t neglect since it is our duty as the people living in it. None of us want to live in a dirty place and all people prefer to have a healthy, clean place to rest and do activities. To make sure we don’t have to spend so much time and effort every time doing the chores, it is better to do them routinely to prevent build up.

Everyday or every other day we clean the house with vacuum cleaner and sometimes with carpet cleaner as well for those with lots of soft flooring in the house but we tend to not pay much attention to the exterior. Not only are they more prone to get dirtied due to being not fully sealed but also will make your house look poorly maintained if neglected. If we can rely on vacuum and electric mop or carpet cleaner for indoor cleaning, a power or pressure washer will be great for outdoor.

Power washer is initially a pump which is placed in between your water source and extending hose to increase the water pressure meant to clean buildup faster. They are very easy to use and already self-explanatory. Each machine may have different ratings but they have standardized numbers to give an idea on how strong the pressure is. Thanks to the increased pressure, it can eliminate the use of soap or scrubbing so then we can finish the cleaning process even faster and effective.

Choosing Pressure Washer

Pressure washers are usually powered using electricity just like your vacuum cleaner but there are those using gas as well. The latter is mostly used in professional applications due to the lack of convenience and the uncomfortable fume but in terms of power, they are very much stronger but also more expensive. The choice is all yours but for home use, we tend to look for the one powered with electricity for the price and convenience while power wise they should be enough for light to medium usage.

When shopping for a power or pressure washer, make sure to check their capabilities. They are usually come rated with a certain number and the one followed by PSI means the pressure they produce thus, the higher it is, the more powerful the machine and may consume more electricity. The other one followed by GPM means the amount of water being dispensed in a minute and this will affect both cleaning ability and water consumption so we should balance them according to our application.

About Karcher K1700 and K1710

There are a lot of pressure washers out there and in most cases they are all reliable but different brands and models may have different performance or convenience which makes it best to shop based on what you need the most or what’s comfortable for you. We actually prefer well-known names over some unfamiliar names, not because they are popular but because they tend to be better in quality as well as widely available. If you don’t have any specific favorite brands yet, shopping based on the budget will also be convenient.

When talking about power or pressure washer, there is this one brand that we do think many people will love and it is Karcher. They do have many best-selling models in the catalog depending on what meets your budget and preference the most but in general, their washers are amazing not only on the performance but also on cost range. From those who do routine cleaning once a week to those who want to deal with lots of buildup, Karcher will have the perfect option.

If you are here then this washer is meant to clean light to medium problems and for this application, Karcher K1700 and K1710 will be two ideal options to consider. As the name suggests, they are very close brothers if not identical to each other and while we actually do prefer any brands to not release identical models with different names, there is usually a reason why they are sold as different models. This reason however, most of the time is not crucial and won’t affect the unit’s capabilities.

These washers are ideal for any homeowner who wants to be more convenient when taking care of their property. They are powerful enough to deal with various cleaning tasks both those on the exterior of our house or huge units such as cars or boats. Since they are capable of delivering quiet the power pressure, we do think almost any light to medium jobs can be taken care of with either Karcher K1700 or K1710. The only difference between them seems to be the version itself.

Karcher K1700 and K1710 Design

As you can see on the sample picture above, these washers are pretty much similar to each other and what’s seems different is probably the fact that K1710 doesn’t comes with the handlebar and wheel but it is actually depends on where you buy them because in some stores this is the exact same washer as K1700. The one we compare today is the regular power washer and the cube version of it, so design wise, you can’t glide the second model.

However, it does have a metal handlebar at the top that you can utilize to hand-carry the unit around when transporting it. Another difference is the latter does have a flat top where you can put a detergent or soap in which the K1700 is slightly at an angle. However, the whole design doesn’t change much and you can still get the same accessories for the unit including how you attach them to the washer.

Karcher K1700 and K1710 Pressure and Water Consumption

The first thing you may want to know about Karcher K1700 and K1710 is probably their capabilities and here they are pretty much the same to each other. Their name already suggest how powerful they are and these two washers are rated at the same 1700 PSI which is milder if compared to another popular models from other brands like Stanley SHP2150 Vs Sun Joe SPX3000 but depending on your application, these two should be able to tackle various surfaces with no problem.

As for the amount of water they dispensed in a minute, they are also equally fairly low at 1.2 GPM which makes them good as well to keep the water consumption low. In general what you can do in K1700 is also possible in K1710 outside those related to the additional amenities since these two have the same components.

Karcher K1700 and K1710 Performance

Moving to the performance, Karcher K1700 and K1710 are working similarly and producing the same power. You can clean almost any external surface with them from the driveway, garage door, outdoor equipment or furniture such as a seat or table, gazebo, walls, the roof of your dog’s house, and many more. They are very effective for those who routinely do the cleaning but we don’t think they are effective for months of buildup especially on concrete and in general anything below 2K won’t be as powerful.

What we love the most from these washers is their foot switch which not all similar models have and this is very convenient because usually we have to reach to the knob below and now we can just press it with foot; just like activating a stroller’s brake. You can also attach various extensions into the hose for different applications such as foam maker or surface cleaner.

Karcher K1700 and K1710 Features

The last part we want to mention is their additional features and as you may already know, the most prominent difference is the absence of handlebar and wheel on K1710 which makes it less convenient to move around. Besides this difference, both Karcher K1700 and K1710 are very similar with the same on-board soap tank, on board cable storage, and trigger wand attachment along with the included nozzles to meet your application. But, instead of being attached on the handlebar, K1710 put the nozzles on top of its soap tank.

Karcher K1700 vs K1710

These are very similar washers to begin with and capabilities wise they are equally reliable. What makes them different is the additional features which makes the K1700 more convenient with the inclusion of handlebar and wheel so we don’t have to hand-carry it all the way and can just pull them around to where we need to do the cleaning. All features and accessories are the same in both models including power and capacity.

Since Karcher K1700 and K1710 are very much the same washer, we do think it is good to choose either one but personally we prefer the K1700 better because it is easier to use and price wise also affordable compared to the second model.
