Pressure Washer

One of the most tiring activities as a homeowner is keeping our house and property clean. This is not the job for just anyone because while it seems easy, things will be different if you have a full-time job and children to take care of, as well as leading a busy life when the energy does seem to won’t last over the weekend. But, worry not because we have various powered cleaning tools to help you with all the house chores from the inside out.

One of the most useful cleaning tools to have around if you have quite a space in the property is pressure washer. As the name suggests, we can wash carious items and surfaces with them and the mechanism is very simple which function is to increase the water pressure of your supply. This in result provides more power in the washing process so users don’t need to put much effort in scrubbing the surface or longer time to finish the job.

Power or pressure washers are amazing to have in your equipment room due to its versatility. We can use them for various applications and items from your car or boat and bikes to walls, fence, and the porch flooring. Most of them are powered with electricity and very simple to use that even those who never hold a pressure washer can easily utilize the unit. They are usually rated with certain power to give an idea on what you can expect from the washer.

Choosing Pressure Washer

If this is your first time buying a pressure washer, there are quite the options out there that you can opt to. In general they are separated into electric and gas pressure washers in which the latter will be less convenient and comfortable but in terms of power, it is mostly used in a more serious or even professional cleaning. For home use however, we recommend to go for the electric version as you can easily use them and there is no fume issue as well like in the gas version.

They are usually rated with numbers to indicate the pressure amount or power thus, we can shop based on how strong the unit will produce an outcome. The lighter options may consume less electricity but less effective and stronger versions will be more reliable for heavier applications such as concrete cleaning. The water amount is also necessary especially if you worry about the water consumption as the washer increases pressure hence the amount dispensed will be higher as well compared to regular hose.

About Karcher K5 and Sun Joe SPX3000

If you often struggle to clean the exterior of your house or the area inside your properties, having a power washer will be a wise decision as you will be able to cut the cleaning process shorter and be less tired afterward. They are available from so many garden or hardware tools brands and shops out there yet, not all are made to be the same which is why we highly recommend to choose one from reputable names since they also tend to be more reliable.

The amount of options are abundant and you can shop based on which seems to fit your application better. Among those well-known names that offer good quality washers, Karcher and Sun Joe are two of the most popular brands to shop from and it is for good reason as well. These companies made various outdoor tools and their pressure washers are very reliable to work with. Many homeowners have been using their washers and are very satisfied about their performance so you may like them as well.

Depending on what you want to clean with the washers, the options may vary but those doing routine cleaning and not going to try washing years of buildup, Karcher K5 and Sun Joe SPX3000 should be nice choices to consider. Both of them are coming between the low-entry and mid-range washers which makes them ideal for lots of different light to medium cleaning jobs around the house. They are rated with the same power and in general are producing quite a force to wash the dirt away.

K5 is one of the most popular units from the K line of Karcher which is also suitable with some useful accessories such as Karcher K1700 vs K1710 in case you need to wash a wide surface with less effort. The Sun Joe SPX3000 on the other hand is currently the bestselling washer on Amazon and it is for good reason as the unit is not only easy to use but also effective. In comparison both are very similar in terms of performance but do have some differences too.

Karcher K5 and Sun Joe SPX3000 Design

In a glance Karcher K5 and Sun Joe SPX3000 are quite similar as well by sporting this upright design which we prefer better over the cube version as they are more convenient to maneuver and more importantly when carried from your storage room to the spot we want to clean. They have a tall, upright form factor just like a canister vacuum and there are a pair of huge plastic wheels at the back to glide the unit around.

In comparison, the K5 is at 34.5-inch tall, 16.7-inch wide, and 13.7-inch deep while the SPX3000 is at 33.9-inch tall, 15.6-inch wide, and 13.5-inch deep. The whole built is made from thick plastic and without the accessory their average weight is about 31-32 lbs. equally. To be able to use these washers out of the box, all accessories are included in the package including the nozzles or wand but additional extensions such as surface washers are sold separately.

Karcher K5 and Sun Joe SPX3000 Power Rating

Moving further, the first thing you may want to know is their output and for this rating, they are very similar at 2000 and 2030 PSI at maximum. This amount of pressure is quite good for varying cleaning applications from your garage doors, fence, to exterior walls and vehicles. They are not very powerful however if you are dealing with muds and other buildups that have been there for quite some time but, for routine maintenance this amount should be enough.

As for the amount of water they dispense, the SPX3000 is delivering 1.7 gallons per minute compared to 1.4 gallons at max with K5 so the former will also require more source to do the cleaning. If you are not concerned about water consumption, any model can do the job well but we do think a lower amount is great to be more environmentally friendly and K5 does save more water than Sun Joe.

Karcher K5 and Sun Joe SPX3000 Features

Talking about the feature, Karcher K5 and Sun Joe SPX3000 are pretty standard like many other washers with adjustable nozzles and soap tanks. The first difference is that Sun Joe has two soap bottles on board that you can find just below its handlebar. We can fill these bottles with soap and there is a dial that decides which bottle they will use but, make sure to use the correct nozzle for detergent which is also included in the package.

In K5, the detergent bottle is placed at the back of the unit and instead of an interchangeable nozzle, this washer has what they called a vario wand. This wand has a rotating feature which decides the output pressure from low which is used to pull detergent while the higher option will only dispense water for rinsing. This is one of the prominent differences in our opinion as SPX3000 has constant pressure flow where the only method to change it is through different nozzle attachments.

Karcher K5 and Sun Joe SPX3000 Performance

The last part is user experience and we do think Karcher K5 and Sun Joe SPX3000 are amazing choices for the budget because they clean very well and the soap function is also good so you can skip foam cannon. They are also equally powerful but talking about convenience the Karcher one does consume less time to adjust as we can only rotate the wand instead of removing and installing a new nozzle. But, since SPX3000 has two bottles, the soap lasts long in this washer.

Karcher K5 vs Sun Joe spx3000

These pressure washers are amazing and working really well for different applications around the house but mostly only for light to medium jobs. Performance wise they are comparable and the addition of 30 PSI doesn’t make much difference but the 1.4 GPM does make it save water more during the cleaning process. The SPX3000 has two bottles and different nozzles to attach while the K5 has a wand with rotating features to dial different pressures.

- 2000 PSI, 1.4 GPM electric pressure washer
- Integrated hose reel for easy storage – 25ft high pressure hose
- Vario Power Spray wand – easily adjust spray right from the wand
- Dirtblaster spray wand – tackles the hardest jobs in half the time
- TSS (Total Stop System): Automatically shuts off pump when trigger is not engaged to save energy and prolong pump life.
- PRESSURE: Max rating per CSA test standards. Maximum internal pressure is 2030 PSI. Under typical load, working pressure is 1450 PSI

Conclusion

There is no bad option between the two as you can rely on them very well. Personally however, we prefer the Karcher K5 because of its lower water consumption and convenience wand to skip the nozzle attachment everytime you need to use a different function.
